How to conduct water quality analysis?

2024-01-02 15:00

Summary of Classification Methods for Water Quality Analysis

According to the different analysis tasks, analysis objects, measurement principles, operation methods, and specific requirements, analysis methods can be divided into many types.

According to the principle of measurement methods, it can be divided into chemical analysis and instrumental analysis

Chemical analysis method: an analytical method based on the chemical reactions of substances (also known as classical chemical analysis), mainly including gravimetric analysis and titration analysis.

Instrumental analysis method: an analytical method based on the physical and physicochemical properties of substances (also known as physical and physicochemical analysis method).

A. Optical analysis methods: UV visible, infrared, molecular fluorescence and phosphorescence, atomic absorption, atomic emission spectroscopy, etc;

B. Electrochemical analysis methods: electrogravimetric analysis, potentiometric analysis, conductivity method, Coulomb method, voltammetry, polarographic analysis, etc;

C. Chromatographic methods: gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, ion chromatography;

D. Other methods: mass spectrometry, nuclear magnetic resonance, X-ray, electron microscopy analysis, etc;

Take a look! Water quality indicators and standards

Water quality standards

The amount threshold of pollutants established for different water use purposes.

The residual chlorine is the lower limit, and other indicators are all upper limit values that cannot be exceeded.

Physical indicators

No chemical reaction is involved, and the water sample does not change after parameter measurement.

Microbiological indicators

1) Water temperature

2) Odor (textual description) and odor threshold

3) Chromaticity

4) Turbidity, an important control index in coagulation process

5) Residue (total residue=filterable residue+unfilterable residue), determined by gravimetric method

6) Conductivity, measured by conductivity meter

7) UV absorbance value (UVA254): reflects the organic matter content in water

8) Oxidation-reduction potential (ORP): an important control parameter in wastewater biological treatment process
