Sharing of textile flammability testing standards

Flammability testing is the process of testing and assessing the performance of a material during combustion. The following is a description of commonly used flammability test methods and test standards.


UL94 test method UL94 is a test method for assessing the flammability of plastic materials. The test method assesses the self-stabilising combustion, cracking combustion and drip combustion properties of the material during combustion. The UL 94 standard is divided into three classes V-0, V-1 and V-2.


GB/T 2408 GB/T 2408 is the standard for testing the combustion properties of textiles. The test method evaluates the burning performance of textiles under certain conditions, including indicators such as surface burning time, burning length and burning rate of the fabric.

ASTM E1354 ASTM E1354 is a standard for testing the combustion properties of building materials. The test method assesses the heat emission rate, smoke generation and toxic gas emission of building materials under certain conditions.


EN 71-2 EN 71-2 is a standard for testing the combustion properties of toys. The test method assesses the combustion performance of toys under certain conditions, including the burning time, burning rate and toxic gas emission.


ISO 4589-2 ISO 4589-2 is a standard for testing the combustion properties of non-metallic materials. The test method assesses the combustion performance of non-metallic materials under certain conditions, including indicators such as oxygen index, heat release rate, smoke generation and toxic gas release.


The above is an introduction to commonly used flammability test methods and test standards. Different test methods and standards are applicable to different types of materials and products and need to be selected and used according to specific circumstances.
