Daily Flash: Kenya cotton production hits highest in a decade
The Kenya Textile Crops Association predicts that cotton production is expected to triple this year, from 10,672 tons last year to 30,000 tons.
One of the four major action plans proposed by President Kenyatta promotes the manufacturing industry and promotes farmers' cotton planting and investment in cotton. At the same time, the association also increased the price of cotton purchases from Ksh 46 to Ksh 52 per kilogram.
Naomi, head of the Textile Crops Association, said that the original plan was to harvest 39,000 tons this year, but due to the drought, the expected value was lowered.
