Salt Spray Tester CCT-4 Method of Salt Spray Test

In the SAE and AISI research projects, CCT-4 was noted as one of the many tests that best matched actual vehicle aging results. CCT Salt Spray Tester is a test equipment available from Standard Group (Hong Kong) Limited.

The conditions listed in CCT-4 include:

Electrolyte: 5% sodium chloride;

pH: no special provisions;

Typical duration: 50 cycles (1200 hours).

The cycle of CCT-4 includes:

Step 1: Salt spray at 35°C for 10 minutes

Economic Salt Spray Tester

Step 2: Dry at 60°C for 2 hours and 10 minutes

Step 3: Dry at 50°C for 15 minutes

Step 4: 60°C, >95% humidity for 1 hour and 15 minutes

Step 5: Sub-loop repeats steps 6-8, 5 times

Step 6: Dry at 60°C for 2 hours and 25 minutes

Step 7: Dry at 50°C for 15 minutes

Step 8: 60°C, >95% humidity for 1 hour 20 minutes

Step 9: Dry at 35°C for 10 minutes

Step 10: Go back to Step 1


Steps 3, 7, and 9 are not normally part of the above procedure, they are only transition steps added to shorten the transition time.

Salt Spray Tester Setup for CCT-4 Salt Spray Test:

Salt spray deposition rate measured in a 100mm diameter funnel: 4-8 ml/hour;

Recommended spray pressure: 12psi;

Recommended solution flow: 1100 liters, 2.0 liters/hour; 600 liters, 1.3 liters/hour;

Peristaltic pump speed: adjust according to the above flow rate.
