Are there any other widely recognized standards for mattress flammability testing?

Besides the CPSC regulations, there are other widely recognized standards for mattress flammability testing. Some of these standards include:

1. European Standard EN 597-1 and EN 597-2: These standards apply to the ignition resistance of mattresses, upholstered bed bases, and similar items. EN 597-1 focuses on assessing the ignitability of mattresses using a smoldering cigarette as the ignition source, while EN 597-2 evaluates the ignitability of mattresses using a flaming ignition source.

1. British Standard BS 7177: This standard specifies the requirements for the resistance to ignition of mattresses, mattress pads, and divans used in domestic and non-domestic settings in the UK. It includes different test methods and performance criteria for different hazard levels.

1. Australian/New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 8811.1: This standard addresses the flammability of mattress sets and specifies test methods to determine the resistance to ignition and the rate of spread of flame of mattresses. It sets out different performance levels based on the ignition source and the type of mattress.

1. California Technical Bulletin 129 (TB 129) and Technical Bulletin 603 (TB 603): These are flammability standards specific to the state of California in the United States. TB 129 pertains to the performance requirements for upholstered furniture, including mattresses, while TB 603 focuses on the requirements for mattresses and mattress pads used in certain public occupancies.

These are just a few examples of widely recognized standards for mattress flammability testing. It's important to consider the specific regulations and standards applicable to the region or market where the mattresses will be sold or used. Manufacturers and retailers should ensure compliance with the relevant standards to ensure the safety of their products.
