What are the methods for testing the abrasion resistance of automotive interior materials?

2022-06-01 01:07

Abrasion resistance is the most important indicator requirement for automotive interior materials. The car seat fabric needs to have high resistance, so that it does not exceed the ball and thread during use to ensure the aesthetics of the seat. The following is the test method for the abrasion resistance of Changbo automotive interior materials provided by Xiangke:

1. Taber wear method

The American standard ASTM D3884 "Standard test method for abrasion resistance of textile fabrics (TABER apparatus)" stipulates the Taber abrasion method. The test principle of the Taber abrasion method is as follows: the test sample is placed on a rotating platform, through which The two rolling friction wheels on the top perform rotational frictional motion with the sample under a certain load to wear the sample. One friction wheel faces outward and the other friction wheel rubs the sample inward, forming a ring-shaped wear mark. After the specified number of frictions, the degree of wear of the sample is evaluated by appearance,

Test method: Fix the sample face up on the rotating platform, and install the selected grinding wheel on the support pressure rod. After selecting the appropriate load, put the support pressure rod down to make the grinding wheel contact the surface of the sample, connect and open Vacuum the device, start the instrument, and perform the test according to the number of rotations set by the counter. After the test, remove the sample, check and record the wear of the sample, and use a gray sample card according to GBT250 "Textile Color Fastness Test - Gray Sample Card for Assessing Discoloration"

2. STROLL wear method

According to ASTM D 3886 "Standard test method for abrasion resistance of textile fabrics (inflated diaphragm apparatus)", the test principle of the STROLL abrasion method is to place the test sample on an inflated rubber diaphragm with constant air pressure, and use sandpaper with specified surface characteristics to The sample is rubbed, and the wear degree of the sample is evaluated by appearance after the specified number of rubbing times.

Test method: Place the sample on the rubber film in a flat state, then place the sandpaper on the abrasive plate, and make the contact head connected by the sandpaper flush with the surface of the sandpaper, then apply 28kPa air pressure under the diaphragm, Apply a pressure of 454g above the abrasive plate, and ensure that the air pressure control and the contact between the inflated sample and the loaded sandpaper are in a stable and balanced state, start the instrument, and perform the test according to the number of rotations set by the counter. After the test, remove the Sample, check and record the wear of the sample, and use a gray sample card to evaluate the color change in the test area according to GBT250 "Grey Sample Card for Evaluation of Discoloration by Color Fastness Test of Textiles". During operation, flatly pad a piece of polyurethane foam with a thickness of 3mm and a density of 30kgm3 on the back of the sample, and fix the sample on the grinding head with a clamp ring, place the table felt on the grinding table again, and then place the friction fabric on the table felt. Put the heavy object that generates 2kPa pressure on the friction fabric, then fix the friction fabric, finally install the grinding head on the abrasion resistance testing machine, apply 12kPa pressure to the grinding head, start the instrument, press the counter to set After the test, remove the sample, check and record the wear of the sample, and use a gray sample card to evaluate the color change in the test area according to GBT250 "Gray sample card for color fastness test evaluation of textiles". .

3. Martindale abrasion method

The Martindale abrasion resistance method is often used in the abrasion resistance test and pilling evaluation of textiles. my country's national standard GBT3903.16 "Test methods for wear resistance of footwear uppers, linings and inner pads" stipulates the use of the Martindale method. The test method for testing shoe uppers is also applicable to the test of abrasion resistance of automotive leather.

Test method: Using the Martindale abrasion method, the sample is rubbed with a standard friction fabric under constant pressure, and the relative movement of the Lissajous figure is carried out between the friction fabric and the sample to generate friction in all directions to complete the specified friction. After the number of times, the damage degree of the sample was evaluated.
