The burning manikin system is used to test the overall thermal protection performance of protective clothing mainly in the following three aspects.
1. Military applications
1) Study on the heat transfer mechanism of fire retardant equipment for single soldiers: the burning manikin is used to simulate the battlefield fire condition with different intensity and the changes of heat flux on human body skin surface and the skin temperture, to create a good human - clothes - fire environmental condition so as to provide an important research method for the study of heat transfer mechanism of flame retardant equipment.
2)Research and screening of flame retardant fabrics for single soldiers: The flame retardant properties of different fabrics used by single soldiers were tested by using the buring manikin system to guide the study of flame retardant fabrics and the selection of the flame retardant fabrics with excellent performance.
3)Structure and style design of flame retardant protective equipment for single soldier: The structure and style of single soldier's flame retardant protective equipment have great influence on its flame retardant performance.Even though equipment spplies the same fabric but uses different structure or different opening parts, the flame retardant performance of the equipment also shows a great difference. The actual wearing condition reproduced by the burning manikin could be used to guide the structure and style design of flame retardant protective equipment, such as flame retardant combat clothing,nuclear and biochemical flame retardant combat clothing, flame retardant footwear and other fire-retardant protective equipment.
4)Study on flame retardant protective clothing for special functional single soldier: Special function single-soldier flame retardant protective clothing is a working suit used for special work and training environment. Different operating environments have different flame retardant requirements.By simulating the reaction of human body to fire field or thermal radiation under special working conditions, the study of special function single soldier flame retardant protective suit was directed.
2. Social application
Burning manikin testing technology can be widely used in the fields of teaching research in colleges, individual protective equipment research, armed police and public security personnel protection equipment development. It can be widely used in the research of fire fighting clothing, fire preventing suit, fire protection clothing, fire fighting shoes and other fire fighting equipment as well as fire treatment . It can also be used to carry out academic exchanges with technology advanced countries such as the United States and Canada, promoting the integration of international garment ergonomics research.
3. Economic application
The burning manikin can simulate human to take the test and provide scientific basis for the performance test of clothing and other various performance tests.
