Are there any other ISO standards for testing flammability at elevated temperatures?

2023-11-06 13:44

There are several ISO standards for testing flammability at elevated temperatures. Here are some examples:

1. ISO 4589-3:2017: "Plastics -- Determination of burning behaviour by oxygen index -- Part 3: Elevated-temperature test." This standard specifies a method for determining the minimum concentration of oxygen required to support the combustion of small test specimens of plastics at an elevated temperature. The test is conducted with a 50 mm flame height.

2. ISO 4589-4:2017: "Plastics -- Determination of burning behaviour by oxygen index -- Part 4: High-temperature test." This standard provides a method for determining the minimum concentration of oxygen required to support the combustion of small test specimens of plastics at high temperatures. The test is conducted with a 20 mm flame height.

3. ISO 9772:2017: "Textiles -- Determination of the burning behaviour of bedding items -- Part 1: Ignition source: smouldering cigarette." This standard specifies a test method for evaluating the ignitability and burning behavior of bedding items, such as mattresses, using a smoldering cigarette as the ignition source.

4. ISO 5660-1:2015: "Reaction-to-fire tests -- Heat release, smoke production and mass loss rate -- Part 1: Heat release rate (cone calorimeter method)." This standard describes a test method for measuring the heat release rate of materials exposed to controlled levels of radiant heating in a cone calorimeter. It provides information on the flammability and fire behavior of materials.

5. ISO 5658-2:2012: "Reaction-to-fire tests -- Spread of flame -- Part 2: Lateral spread on building and transport products in vertical configuration." This standard specifies a test method for evaluating the lateral spread of flame along the surface of building and transport products when exposed to a small ignition source.

These are just a few examples of ISO standards related to testing flammability at elevated temperatures. ISO standards provide standardized procedures and criteria for testing the flammability characteristics of various materials and products, ensuring consistency and comparability of test results in different laboratories and industries.
